WHAT IS STARVING TO SERVE (S2S)?
#Starving2Serve is an annual fundraiser where we ask students to go without food for 27 hours to raise awareness and money to help end world hunger. The money we raise primarily goes to Outside the Bowl, a soup-kitchen ministry that aims to nourish children physically and spiritually. Money will also be donated toward Reflect Ministries, a ministry whose vision is to help all children experience physical and spiritual freedom. Last year, North Coast campuses raised over $100,000 towards these ministries! This event always has a huge impact on the people Outside the Bowl cares for. Starving 2 Serve also always has an impact on the individual that participates. On a small scale, participants are able to empathize for just 27 hours with what many people in our world deal with for weeks, months, and years.
EVENT INFO
In order for students to participate in this event, they must pick up a fundraising packet from Elevate on either Sundays or Tuesdays. Inside the packet is the permission slip. Students must submit a signed permission slip to participate in this event. Turn it in by March 5th to guarantee you get a Starving to Serve t-shirt the night of our event (March 21st). However, if you turn this in later, you will still receive a t-shirt after the event. You will have until the night of the event to fundraise, and we will have a “Fundraising Weekend” March 15/16th on campus where your students can ask the congregation for donations. You must raise at least $50 to be invited to the Celebration. Students will have their last meal by 6p on March 20th, and we won’t eat again until 9p on March 21st at the Celebration. We understand some students are unable to fast and that it is completely optional. For those who can fast, water, juice, and gum is permitted, but food is off limits! The Celebration event will be held at North Coast Church’s Vista campus (2405 N Santa Fe Ave, Vista) on March 21st. Drop off is at the Vista campus at 430p & pickup is at 10p. Students must turn in their packets, and permission slips if they haven’t already, to the Celebration. If your student can’t make it to the Celebration, they can turn in their packets any time before March 21st! The Celebration will be full of games, worship, raffles, and FOOD! We hope to see your students there!
PACKETS/FUNDRAISING
Students can pick up their packets from Elevate on Tuesdays, weekends, or at the offices from Monday-Thursday (9a-4p). Inside the packet are three items: a permission slip, info on the ministries we’re donating to, and advice on how you can get sponsors! Once your permission slip is signed, you can start raising money! Please note that ANY amount donated MUST be listed on the cover of the packet to count towards prizes at the event! There will be prizes given to students who raise certain amounts of money. While students only need to raise $50 to be invited to our Celebration event at Vista, we hope these rewards encourage you to raise as much money as possible!
